He didn't. This is a fable. The ancient Greeks knew it was round.
the circumference of the earth, the oceans, and his boats
No idea
Hundreds of years ago peoplebelieved that the Earth was completely flat and if you sailed to far then you would fall of the edge, a little like disc-world in the Terry Pratchett books. But with danger comes bravery, and soon enough brave explorers travelled the world in search of the edge and realised it was in a sphere shape. Until recently when we went into space we had no idea exactly what our Earth looked like.
Christopher Columbus was against the idea that the earth is flat. He tried to sail around the world to prove it. Instead of reaching India (as was his intent), he was the second person (Leif Erikson was the first in 1002.) in 1492 to discover the Americas. He made four more voyages afterwards.
i have no freakin idea
Christopher Columbus believed that he was traveling to India to trade with the Indians. People at that time had no idea that there was another continent in between Europe and Asia.
I have no idea that's what I want to find out
It was to find a water route to Asia and to get very rich.
Columbus and the people of his time all ready knew the world was round. This had been known for hundreds of years before Columbus. The idea that he discovered this is a historical fallacy and not true. It is another one of the historical myths that keeps getting passed down from generation to generation until everyone believes it is true.
that the earth is round just like what Magellan said ... `The church says the earth is flat, but I know that it is round, for I have seen the shadow on the moon, and I have more faith in a shadow than in the church"
The earth is flat
The earth is flat
