How did Ozzy osbourne become famous?

According to what i read/heard, Ozzy placed an ad in the local newspaper, which basically said that he was a singer who was looking to join a band ('Ozzy Zig needs a gig! Has own PA'). Tony Iommi, a former school mate of Ozzy,s saw the ad, not certain that it was the same guy that he went to school with. When Iommi realized it was the same Ozzy Osbourne that he had went to school with, the two set about forming a band, which included Bill Ward & Terrence "Geezer" Butler. The band were known by several names including Earth, but they changed their name to Black Sabbath when they discovered that a jazz band had the same name. Ozzy got his nickname in High School . He hasn't answered to his given Name "John" Since he was 15 years old.He did NOT get the nickname in prison.

Well I've noticed that people call him Ozzy that's all but i don't know for sure but he might not have a nickname at all
