The origins of Mary as Christian Goddess
Well I have thought about the rise of Mary as a goddess-like figure for a quite some time. The fundamentalist Christians are
correct when they argue that the Biblical Mary has little status
beyond being the biological mother of Jesus. Clearly the special status of
Mary had no role in primitive Christianity. Therefore what happened?
The Virgin Mary never became a goddess and never will be.Mary was the mother Of the second person of the Blessed Trinity.Jesus.Mary raised as her own son after the Angel Gabriel Sent her the message that God wanted her to be the mother of Jesus Christ.Mary was concieved with sin meaning God made her aspecialy for his son.Mary had the choice to whether she would or would not be the mother of Jesus and she said yes and made the right choice.Well that's just a little about her if you want to know more, Google it.
Mary has NEVER been and never will be a goddes. We worship God only.
Hestia is not a god. She is a virgin goddess. She was born as a goddess.
Athena, being a virgin goddess, never got married.
If looking to Christianity, her equivalent may be Mary when looked at from the perspective that she is the holy virgin and often thought of as a goddess.
Since Artemis was born, she was an Olympian goddess. When she was three years old, she asked her father, Zeus, to let her remain a virgin forever. He consented.
She was the mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
When she died in the 1st century
Tonantzin is the Aztec counterpart for the Virgin Mary and many of the locals at the time considered the Virgin Mary to have been Tonantzin as she had appeared on the site of a destroyed temple dedicated to this pagan goddess.
She said Yes to God's Request, to Become the Mother Of His Son.
Mary was fully obedient to God and did not refuse when he asked her to be the mother of his son.
Artemis was the virgin goddess of the Hunt. Her being a virgin is not a contradiction to being a huntress. But you could say she did have a contradiction. She was the goddess of animals, but she hunted them.
Athena is a virgin goddess, so she has no children.
Somewhat. Both are celestial virgin figures that people look to for divine help. Some Artemis art affected depictions of the Virgin Mary. There are more differences though: Artemis is a greek goddess. Mary is a human. Greeks worshiped Artemis. Although some Christians pray to Mary for help and honor her greatly, they do not worship her.
