they didnt contribute to it too much, the main reason for the great depression was the Stock Market crash followed by lack of job availability, and the presidents "New Deal" Sorry that I cant give you a direct answer, but they didnt effect the great depression too much

Bear with me if this answer is kind of long, im just not quite sure what your asking. The Great Depression started in the majority of the country in 1929. It is by far the worst financial crisis Americas ever suffered (in my opinion anyways). The Depression not only hurt us causing crime and poverty rates to go up, but international trade and other countries were hurt as well. Also, debate rages on still today wether FDR's "New Deal" (what we would call a stimulus package) helped or lengthen the period of recesion.
