What are the factors that affect filipino's English proficiency?

The factors that affect the English proficiency of the filipinos are too much use of vernacular and lack of confidence in using the English language. Too much use of vernacular for the reason that students and even teachers uses their vernacular during class even if the subject is science, math and other subjects whose medium of instruction is in English. First, Teachers tend to use their dialect while teaching that they forget to use english as the medium of instruction because they believe that it would be easy for the students to understand the lesson. Second, students don't have listening and speaking activities inside the classroom especially during English calss. Moreover, students and teachers don't have the needed exposure for language learning. The other reason is the lack of confidence in using the language because filipinos are so conscious about what other people will say if their articulation is not that good. As a result they rather use their dialect/ vernacular when conversing. In general, proper exposure (listening and speaking activities)to English language learning and confidence in using it are the factors that affect the Filipinos proficiency in using the English language.

How did invasions affect the English language?

The history is long and complex, but in a very real sense invasions created the English language. Many consider English to be a creolized langauge, meaning that it is a blending of different languages. Many of the blendings occurred as a result of many different invasions/migrations in and around the British Isles over the centuries. Go to any history of the English language, or essays at the beginning of any good dictionary of the English language. Also, see links below. As one example of the evolution of English that may be startling to some, The earlier forms of what would become English was at one time considered vulgar and base peasant language by those in the English court. Ordinary English speakers today would not recognize or understand any of it. What was spoken at court? French. And they didn't speak French because they learned it to be stylish at court; they were French speakers. For many reasons, including the fact that English has lost virtually all of its inflected forms, English is very good at borrowing from other languages, perhaps to a greater degree than most other languages.

If a person switch language how would it affect identity?

I don't think that this would affect one's identity. If you switch to an other language that you know really well, you even think in that language, you don't translate. But I really don't see how this could affect your identity. My native language is dutch, second language is french, third language is English and the fourth language is German, but at the end I am still me and I'm flemish.
