∙ 12y agoI would describe them as magnified human nature. They show favouritism, compassion, spite, wrath, humour. The only one of the gods to not show condescension in any way is Hephaestos, particularly when Thetis approaches him for new armour for Achilles. They are unusual, in so far as we understand gods in a modern context, as they are the gods of the powerful adn rich, people of lesser stature are not depicted as praying to the gods, sacrifice and libation is only carried out by those who rank higher.
