New Zealand was the first places to give women the right to vote in 1893. However when this happened New Zealand was not yet a "country", but still a self-governing colony.
Parliament amended the rules (by passing the Electoral Amendment Act 1893) to allow women to register and vote.
Before World War 2, women had the right to vote in a few countries such as Australia and New Zealand. That was the only rights give at that time as they were minimally involved in the political process.
