It changed the way people celebrated Christmas because in the Christmas carol, scrooge was a very selfish a greedy man who didn't like to donate his money, (he had a lot of $$$), and he let his only worker work on Christmas Eve, luckily not on Christmas Day but he was about to. Scrooge's only worker had a son who was crippled, and since scrooge didn't like to give away his money, the family couldn't support the son.
