Prayer is an activity in which people ask favours from their god, ask forgiveness from their god or just generally praise their god. Buddhism does not have a deity and a consequence Buddhists do not pray. Buddhism is based on a person controlling their own life and fate. They meditate to better understand themselves and chant to provide a formalized direction for their efforts.
