A dolphin, like other cetaceans, propels itself through the water using its tail. Their tails spread side-to-side, instead of up-and-down like a fishes, so they wave it up and down. They steer using their pectroal flippers.
Dolphins have a tail that ends with two opposing, horizontally oriented fins. They move by using their strong tail muscles to wave the tail up and down. The fins push against the water, propelling the dolphin fast enough that they can jump completely out of the water.
bottle nose dolphins move by flexing their tails up and down and if they wriggle like a snake they will die and will not be able to survive and also if they are in the ocen alone they will also die.there are all different kinds of dolphins and they need a pod in the ocen .i have been studing dolphins for a while and i learned a lot and my favourite kind of dolphin is a bottle nose dolphin.i also like killer whales i injoyed typeing this little peice about dolphins and whales thank you for offering me to write this.
Dolphins use their flukes for propulsion through the water. Fish move their tailfins from right to left (side-to-side). Conversely, dolphins move their flukes up and down (dorsal-ventral). These movements are powered by a very strong muscle called the peduncle and allow bottlenose dolphins to swim upwards of 20 mph!

Like many other dolphins Bottlenose use their flukes (tails) and flippers to create vibrations along the sand/mud along the ocean floor and to move it around. Other fish think that a predator is coming and leap out of the water straight into the incoming dolphins mouth
Because if you're in water all day and need your mouth to catch fish, then you can't breathe through your mouth very well. Dolphins and whales sorted this out by having their nostrils move to the top of their heads and breathe through there instead.
They use their fins and tail to push through the water.
Bottlenose dolphins have a warm, happy smile that has made them popular in our culture. That's why I love them. Dolphins have a lump of fat on their head called the melon. They are a solid grey color with some dark spots, a bottlenose dolphin has a dorsal fin, like any other dolphin specimen. The tail, or fluke, indicates that the animal is a mammal. Marine mammal's tails move up and down, vertically. Fish tails move from side to side. Bottlenose dolphins also have two small fins on either side of their stomach. I hope my information was useful.
The dolphin has at least one very major interaction with the non-living water. Dolphins use water to move around.

Dolphins move with the help of there fins and the move to get there food.
dolphins swims so fast not because of their skin structure but because of large force exerted by their tail . dolphin can exert a force of 400lb by their tail as compared to olympic swimmers (produce only 60-70lb of force).
Water beetles move through the water by thrusting their legs back and forth. This allows them to quickly move and catch prey.
dolphins are aquatic mammals like seals, and sea lions. They have fins & a strong tail which they use to swim in water.
