The cell wall is made up of a substance called cellulose. This cellulose is very strong and provides structural strength to the plants , fungi and the bacteria that have cell wall. Thus, they are able to withstand the unfavourable conditions.

If a cell is surrounded by a very diluted external medium, the cell will gain water through osmosis. So, the cell will swell up and will build pressure on the walls of the cell, that is , the cell wall. The cell wall also exerts an equal pressure against that swollen cell. Hence, the cell wall also helps the cell to withstand very dilute external media without bursting

What happens to an animals cell when it is placed in a very dilute external?

When an animal cell is placed in a very dilute external solution, water will enter the cell through osmosis. This causes the cell to swell and potentially burst, a process known as lysis. The dilute external solution has a lower solute concentration compared to the cell's cytoplasm, creating a concentration gradient that drives water into the cell.

Why do plant and bacterial cell not burst in a very dilute solution?

Plant and bacteria cells have rigid cell walls that are able to provide pressure against a swelling cell, preventing the cell from bursting.

What happen to an animal cell when it is placed in a very dillute medium?

Due to osmosis, when the cell is in a very dilute external environment, the water in its surroundings will diffuse into the cell to reach equilibrium balancing the solutes in the cell with the dilute environment that the cell is in.
