The female gamete is most likely bigger than the male gamete because it is the cell that will eventually provide the nutrients for the organism that will begin to grow there. It will start forming into a multicellular organism and therefore needs to be big enough to divide.
I personally think that there are several reasons for this:
1. During sexual intercourse, it is the male gamete which travels towards the female gamete, thus it is obvious that the male gamete has to be smaller than the female gamete.
2. There is normally only one female gamete present during a particular sexual intercourse compared to millions of male gametes. So as not to make wastage, the male gamete is smaller than the female gamete.
3. The female gamete contains food for the zygote after it has been fertilised and before it gets implanted in the wall of the uterus.
The usual case as found in humans is that single non motile egg is released by ovary during ovulation. The quantity of sperm produced is around 300 millions per ejaculate. The egg is a microscopic structure while sperm is an electron microscopic structure.
Generally in most of the organisms the Male gamets are motile and female are not.
So,male gamet has to reach the female gamet...during this travel some of them may die due to unusual exposour, thus produced in a large no.
In humans, the female gamete, the egg, is larger and singular (i.e. there is usually only one released at at time). The male gamete, the sperm, is relatively tiny and produced in the millions.
male gamets are motile but female gamets are non motile
female gamets produce pheromone which attracts male gamets
the x chromosome is slightly bigger!
antheridium
2 is smaller than 3, so 2mm is smaller than 3mm.
This is because mutations occur in x chromosomes. The male, who has "xy" sex chromosomes, will have the mutation if it is present in the x chromosome. Females, there is a smaller chance because there are two "xx" chromosomes, which reduces the chance that the mutation will be present.
Yes. A meter is about 3.3 times larger than a foot.
536 centimeters = 53.6 decimeters, therefore they are the same distance.
1 centimetre is bigger than 5 millimetres.
A female frog has a bigger body.
no i think it male bigger than female
Gametes are the "sex cells" (haploid cells). The male gametes are sperm; the female gametes are the ova, or eggs.Normally the female gamete (ovum, or egg) is bigger than the sperm or male gamete. The fertilization of the egg by the sperm results in a complete set of chromosomes for the resultant combination (zygote) to divide and form an offspring of the original organism.
No a female cobra is bigger
No. The female kiwi is larger than the male.
The male is bigger and it has a bigger wingspan than the female.
no usually the male rabbits are bigger than female , because male rabbits are more dominate.
no the male is a bit bigger than the female pin dolphin. no the male is a bit bigger than the female pin dolphin.
Female goldfish are slightly bigger than males
yes they are bigger than a female chimpmunk
No. In most cases, female spiders are bigger than male spiders.
No.Male pandas are bigger than female pandas.
