Simple breakdown of how Gas station works.
Water is taken from a local river, this is then cleaned up, and given a neutral PH level. The gas is burned in what is known as a boiler. There are many tubes within the boiler which all carry the water. The water is heated to such an extent that it turns to steam, and we use this steam to turn what is known as a Turbine. The turbine on a Gas station would be a GT or Gas Turbine. This turbine is attached to what is Known as an AC generator. Similar to a car Alternator, but much larger. A generator turns Mechanical movement into Electricity through Electromagnets.
This electricity is then put through a transformer which would step it up to around 132Kv, where it would then be fed to a consumer.

1. Fuel (coal, oil, or natural gas) is burned in a giant furnace to release heat energy

2. The heat from the furnace flows around pipes full of cold water and turns into steam.

3. The steam drives the steam turbine (which is connected to the generator) and is converted to kinetic energy.

4. The generator uses the kinetic energy to generate electricity.

Is pumping carbon into the ocean carbon sequestration?

No, carbon sequestration is a plan to capture carbon dioxide from fossil fuel power plants before it reaches the atmosphere, compress it and pump it underground into supposedly secure locations where it will remain forever and never escape. The owners of the fossil fuel power plants, who desperately want to continue burning coal, are particularly hopeful that this plan will work.

What is the defeniton of a fossil fuel power plant?

A fossil fuel power plant is a system of devices for the conversion of fossil fuel energy to mechanical work or electric energy

How much fossil fuel is left on earth?

There is not to much fossil fuel left of the whloe world of have fossil fuel. we need to work lees time of it to last more time .

What are a few types of environmental disadvantages of fossil fuel?

By burning fossil fuels there is a high risk of pollution which is an environmental hazard and gives out excess carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Also caused by fossil fuels may be acid rain, which causes damage to any stone or marble work.

How does electrical energy get its energy?

According to Softpedia: "Most of the electric energy production process takes place in power plants burning fossil fuel, such as coal, natural gas or crude oil, which accounts for the massive amounts of greenhouse gases emitted daily in the Earth's atmosphere. Heat produced during fuel burning is used to evaporate large amounts of water and create steam that powers a steam turbine, turning the energy extracted during burning fuel into mechanical work. By connecting a mechanical generator to the turbine's drive shaft, the mechanical work can be turned efficiently into electric energy."

How does Liquid Natural Gas work as a fuel?

Natural gas works as a fossil fuel because you BURN it and it turns into heat and energy exactly like a fossil fuel.

What are fossil fuels used for and how do they work?

Burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) is used in industry, transport and the generation of electricity.

How does fossil fuel work?

You burn it; it gives off heat; you use the heat.

How hydrogen fuel engine work?

By burning the hydrogen and making water.

Is burning fuel a useful chemical reaction?

Yes,burning fuel is a useful chemical reaction as energy is released and can be converted into different forms to do useful work

How does electricity reduce the use of fossil fuels?

Electricity does not inherently reduce the use of fossil fuels -- in fact, the production of electric energy is one of the biggest uses of fossil fuels. There are two ways that electric power can reduce the use of fossil fuels: Efficiency improvements, and alternate power sources. Efficiency improvements: * By replacing thousands of relatively inefficient fossil-fuel-burning engines with thousands of electric motors and a couple of highly efficient centralized fossil-fuel-burning electric power plants, the same amount of mechanical work requires less fossil fuel. * By using a microwave oven to cook food rather than a gas or electric conventional oven, only enough energy is used to heat the food itself, rather than heating up the internal structure of the oven and the air it contains, and maintaining that temperature for a longer time. Alternate power sources: Power can be produced in several ways that require no fossil fuels -- see the "What can you use instead of fossil fuels?" question below. Converting those forms of energy to electric power makes it easier to reduce or -- in principle -- eliminate the fossil fuel that otherwise would have been used to produce that electric power.
