I suppose you may mean do hot objects emit light? First off, light is part of the electro-magnetic (em) spectrum, specifically for humans it is from blue to red color. Different light colors are of different wavelengths. Visible light is just a narrow part of the em spectrum. Em spectrum goes from gamma rays (smallest wavelength) to X-rays, to ultraviolet, to visible light, to infrared, to microwaves, to radiowaves (longer wavelengths.) Hot objects emit em radiation in the infrared (IR) (actually all object emit radiation, cooler objects at longer wavelengths, and hotter objects (like our sun) at shorter wavelengths.) Infrared is close to visible light, and although a hot object emits mostly in the infrared, it can emit some in the visible, like something glowing red if left too long in heat.

Sunlight heats a material such as water or a brick primarily because the long wavelength, or infrared, portion of the sun's radiation resonates well with molecules in the material. This sets them into motion.

Electromagnetic radiation, which includes visible light, ultraviolet light, infrared radiation, microwave radiation, etc., has the capacity to heat things up, because matter contains charged particles (protons and electrons) which react to electromagnetism. An electromagnetic wave has the capacity to induce a vibration in a charged particle, and the more rapidly a particle vibrates, the hotter it is. On a sub-microscopic scale, heat is motion.

depends on the substance and how hot it is.

for red hot iron or similar, most light is infrared.
