Gender issues are a reflection of the prevailing culture. American culture was founded on Puritan values and that has prevailed in the form of ratings of movies, parental warnings on TV shows, limitation of alcohol and tobacco by age, pornography distribution, and gender attire. Schools and work environments have dress codes. Institutions require uniforms for nurses, doctors, police officers and such... So is it any surprise that cross gender dressing is a sub-culture and is limited to transgender environments. We do know some men that go out in public dressed as women, but they usually go out with a group of people that accept them for who they are and do not break "character" in public. They use the ladies room. With the wig and make-up and clothing, no one has ever commented. Living counter to the culture is a hard road. Peace.
