Instructionsthings you'll need:
  • Enclosure
  • Screen lid for enclosure
  • Substrate
  • Heat lamp
  • Heat mat
  • Full spectrum lighting
  • Lighting timer

Provide an appropriately sized enclosure for the number of skinks you wish to purchase. You can house one male along with three females in a 20-gallon aquarium. You should also purchase a locking screen top lid for the aquarium to prevent escapes.

Spread a 3- to 4-inch layer of mulch, bark or soil in the bottom of your skinks cage to help maintain humidity.

Heat your skinks enclosure to 95 degrees Fahrenheit on one area of the cage, and then maintain 80 degrees Fahrenheit in the rest of the enclosure. You can do this using heat lamps and heat mats.

Light the cage with full spectrum lighting for 14 to 16 hours a day. The other 8 or 10 hours the light should be turned off to simulate night.

Feed your skink three or four times a week. They can eat a variety of things including feeder crickets, pinkie mice, lean meat or snails.

Use a water dish that will allow your lizard to submerge its entire body and is not easily overturned. It must always be kept full with fresh and clean de-chlorinated water.

Create a hiding area for your skinks using an imitation rock or small hollow logs. Place a few branches and rocks in the enclosure for climbing.

well you could always give it something to lay under or around like what i did a big rock proped up by little rocks in a fish aquarium with something to let it get wet but not drown in. put some leaves or a little bit of grass so if you are feeding it live food like small crickets , small worms, small insects , or small Spiders not poisoness then it can hunt by itself.(not recommended for baby's) have lid on cage or aquarium so it doesn't climb out. p.s:not harmful other kinds may be so beware!, also are very squrimy so be caustiose when pulling out VERY FAST BE CAREFULL!!! if this informatio helped you then you are wellcome <3

First, buy them a cage so they don't run around the whole entire house. Make sure the cage has little holes so they can breathe. After your done, put stuff that you would find in a lizard environment. (A branch, some dirt, leaves, etc.) To feed your lizard, catch living insects like moths and beetles, and put them inside the cage. If your parents let you let out your lizard for a while , play with them so they are happy. Also, if your pet lizard is lonely, try to buy it a new friend or neighbor. It might be complicated, but it makes a worth of a job.

Many species of skink are oviparous reproducers, meaning they lay eggs. Some oviparous skinks immediately abandon their eggs, others stay with the eggs until they hatch. Other skinks are viviparous, meaning the birth live offspring. Many of these offspring will remain with the parents for several months.
