Most of the MTD/Bolens riding mowers have the brake adjustment on the transaxle, right side toward the front. You will need a 1/2" wrench. With the mower in neutral, tighten the nut a 1/4 turn at a time while you try to roll the mower back and forth. Once there is some resistance when you try to roll it, stop and back it off a 1/4 turn and you should be ready to go.

how do u adjust deck on yard machine made by mtd 42 inch cut 16,5 horse
The brake is on the rearend. Depending on what year the mower is will tell you which side of the rearend it is on. More recent mower will have it on the right side of the mower. You should be able to look under the mower just in front of the right rear wheel and see the rod going from the linkage to the rearend. It goes through a lever on the rearend. There is a nut where that pivots. If you tighten that nut it will adjust the brake.

They are made by Ryobi which was briefly bought by MTD and made trimmers with several of the MTD-owned brands. Now I believe it is still partially MTD-owned, but is a separate entity.
No they will not.
Ranch King is merely a brand name...the maker....MTD Products, Cleveland, Ohio.
On most MTD riders it is right by the seat hinge on the right side as you sit on the mower.
