Go to compTIA.org, it explains all of the certifications and how to get them to be a certified IT technician. Look for the CompTIA A+ certification, that is the one to start out with. You have to pass two exams, then you are A+ certified, which basically means you have the skills to fix and troubleshoot a computer. Once done you can move up and get certifications in Network+, Security+, Linux+, etc...hope this helps.
