Usually prices are straight forward in locations with no tax. After knowing the price you then calculate the tax. However, if you know the price of the item after tax you can simply subtract the percentage of sales tax.
Example: The final price of a sticker cost $2.06. The sales tax is 7%.
$2.06 - 0.07 = $1.99 The original price of the sticker was $1.99
*FYI to convert percent to decimal start at the percent sign then move two decimal places to the left <<<<<.
The easiest way to understand the answer is to turn it around. If you wanted to calculate the item price plus tax, you would multiply the item price by 1.073. So, to back up to the item price from the item price plus tax, divide the item price plus tax by 1.073. $20.00 / 1.073 = item price before sales tax.
Take your order price times .007. That's the sales tax for that order. but take tax before shipping cost.
You multiply the purchase price (without sales tax) by 13/100, that is, by 0.13.
Multiply the price by 0.015
The percent of the sales tax was 4.5%
Commission would be apply to the sales price, which does not include tax.
Original Price = Total / (1 + Tax)
The total tax is $2.83 and the price before tax was $47.17.
$52.92/1.08 = $49.00 total price before sales tax $49.00/4= $12.25 price of each CD before sales tax $52.92/4 = $13.23 price of each CD including sales tax
The total tax is $648.00 and the price before tax was $10,800.00.
The original price was 200.00
If the jeans cost $11.50 after the 15% sales tax, the cost of the jeans without sales tax is $10.00.
