Regardless of the size needed by the heater, the car's alternator will be the limiting factor. If you oversize the inverter to more than the alternator can handle you may burn out the alternator. Heaters consume allot of amperage.

Why You Need a Power Inverter?

A power inverter is a great tool to have in an emergency. Power inverters plug into the cigarette lighter of your car to charge. They allow you to plug in and run your every day household electrics when the power is out in your home. Power inverters are relatively inexpensive and can be very useful to charge your cell phone or weather radios in an emergency. You could also use them to plug in a lamp or space heater. Some of the larger power inverters can be used to plug in your refrigerator to keep your food from spoiling during long outages. You could even use your power inverter to plug in your coffee pot and microwave so that you have small cooking sources during an outage.

How big of inverter to run a small space heater?

All I can tell you is it doesn't work on a 2000Watt inverter with a 4000Watt surge. I made a video on how I tried to get it to work. Here is a link. I think you would need one with about a 10,000 watt surge.

Is 500 watts of AC power is being drawn on an inverter how many amps are being drawn on the batteries powering the inverter?

Inverter efficiencies vary about 50% when a small about of power is being used, to over 90% when the output is approaching the inverters rated output. Your question cannot be answered without knowing the inverters rated output.

How can a 12 volt battery inverter give power to a house?

An inverter converts direct current into alternating current. An inexpensive 12 volt inverter is often used to convert 12 volt direct current from a battery to 120 volt alternating current to power small household appliances during a power failure. More expensive inverter systems with large batteries are also available for use with solar panels, wind generators, or other non-commercial power sources.

How can you convert a 6v battery to AC power?

Use an "Inverter". They make a lot of inverters for 12v but few for 6v. You could use 2 6v batteries hooked in series though. Just make sure the inverter is big enough to power what you wish. A 300 watt one will power a electric razor, or small electronics fine. A 1000 watt would power a computer or a laptop also, etc.

How many watts does a small ceramic heater use?

A ceramic heater uses the same amount as a regular heater. Most heater use 1500 watts so in one hour a 1500 watt home heater will use 12.5 amp hours.

What is a small heater that has high BTU's?

The Honeywell HZ-315 Quick Heat 1500W Ceramic Heater is extremely powerful considering its small size. It provides 1500 Watts of heating power and weighs only 3 lbs.

What is voltage source converter?

A power inverter, or inverter, is an electrical device that changes direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC);[1] the converted AC can be at any required voltage and frequency with the use of appropriate transformers, switching, and control circuits.Solid-state inverters have no moving parts and are used in a wide range of applications, from small switching power supplies in computers, to large electric utility high-voltage direct current applications that transport bulk power. Inverters are commonly used to supply AC power from DC sources such as solar panels or batteries. The inverter performs the opposite function of a rectifier.

Can a inverter generator be home built?

Yes, an inverter generator can be built at home. However, you would need a small engine to start, and a cover to keep anything from getting inside the engine.

What is a tankless water heater?

A small water heater that plugs in under a sink and heats a small amount (usually about two litres) of water for instant use. It must be plumbed into the regular hot supply, and always requires an electrical outlet under sink (sometimes 220) . Quite efficient heater, but a big power user.

Can power inverter work for 24 hours?

Normally, power inverters work for a long period of time - but it also depends on what appliance or gadget was it used for. For small in-vehicle type of inverters, it can run an equipment for a long period of time, and as long as the car engine is running and battery power is good.

Will your gas water heater work during a power outage?

The only power used by a gas water heater is the small current generated by the thermocouple that keeps the gas valve open. It comes on mechanically when the water temperature drops. You don't need house current.
