How do you change a fuel pump on a 94 cavalier rs?

Seeing how The fuel pump is in the fuel tank, you need to do the following steps to drop the Fuel tank to get to it. This consists of

1) Remove your gas cap

2) Pull the vehicle backwards onto car ramps MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS LEVEL AND BLOCK THE FRONT WHEELS, SET THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE CAR RAMPS

2a) MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS LEVEL AND BLOCK THE FRONT WHEELS

Jack the vehicle up and put Jack stands under a secure spot (rear axle is recommended.)

2b) Let the vehicle down gently off the jack until rested FIRMLY on the Jack stands. (MAKE SURE CAR IS STURDY AND DOES NOT ROCK EITHER WAY, FRONT TO BACK OR SIDE TO SIDE)

3) Unhook your exhaust from its one and only hanger and move it aside as much as possible. I suggest at this time you get a piece of wood and a scissor Jack for support of the tank.

You will see two straps holding the tank up.

4)Remove the bolts holding the straps from the rear side of the tank. (SUGGEST YOU USE A TARP OR AN OLD BLANKET UNDER THE FUEL TANK)

5) SLOWLY let the jack down with the support of one hand or a friend (a friend is recommended depending on the amount of fuel in your tank)

6) Unhook your fuel lines from your tank

7) With the blanket/ tarp gently slide the fuel tank out from under the vehicle

8) With a specialized tool or a pair of pliers turn retaining ring on fuel tank counter clockwise to remove the fuel pump sending unit assembly.

9) Replace the unit with the unit you bought by using the manufacturers instructions.

10) Reverse process to put tank back on vehicle
