How do you change an alternator on a Saturn 2000 SL2 by looking at the pictures?

Disconnect the battery
Remove accessory belt (now is a good time to replace the belt if needed)
Raise vehicle on hoist or jack stands
Remove right front wheel
Remove inner splash shield
Remove wires going to the alternator (make sure to hold the stud when loosening the lock nut or you will crack the plastic insulator, which may ruin the alternator)
Remove lower and upper bolts holding the alternator to the engine
Pull alternator out through wheel well opening behind the strut.
Install in reverse order.

The Alternator is between the engine and the firewall. Follow the serpentine behind the engine and you'll see the alternator. Removing the alternator is easiest if you remove the passenger side front tire and the plastic mud guard. Once they are both off, the alternator is easy to change.

I was able to watch a mechanic change the alternator on my 93 Saturn sl1 and it wasnt pretty. Unlike the easy to change alternators like the dodge stratus (alternator in FRONT, on TOP and in plain sight), the Saturn sl1's alternator is between the motor and the passenger cabin (hidden and underneath). What tools do you use??? A lift for starters. It took my mechanic about 2 hours to do the job and he was swearing and cussing the entire time. I sincerely suggest that you have a professional do the job.
