* bulging of any portion of the body containing internal organs,
* pulsating masses,
* pain either through palpation (or the patient may be able to tell you right off the bat that they are in pain)
* MOI (mechanism of injury) What caused their injuries?
* not being able to breathe or take in adequate breaths
* signs of shock
You can assess the patient to come to a conclusion that they possibly have internal injuries, but you will never know that for sure. The only way to find out if they truly have internal injuries is to get them to a hospital ASAP and let them use their technology and procedures to determine that.
