Scrape out as much as you can, fill with water and let it set overnight. You could put it on the stove and let it simmer over very low heat. Depending on the type of pan, it may have a tendency to burn easier the next time you use it. Just depends on the type. If you manage to get it clean, you may want to season it by putting oil in it and bringing it up to a medium, medium high heat and then letting it cool.

There are a few ways to get bad stains off of cookware.

First-- we are assuming you mean food stains-- cooked on. If your stain is from something like paint or crayon, you'll need a different answer.

For most baked on or cooked on food stains, you can fill the pot with hot water to cover the stain, then put in a generous amount of liquid dishwashing detergent for automatic dishwashers. Let that sit overnight, and your stain should be gone.

For "clean" stains-- those seemingly down under the surface-- try a 2:1 bleach solution. You can put it on paper towels and then stick the paper towels to the surface over the stain. Again, leave overnight.

If your pot is stainless steel, you can soak the whole thing in a white-vinegar and water solution and they will look like new.

Depends what it is stained with but boiling water and a solution of bleach and laundry detergent (Take care of the fumes) will get rid of a lot of stains.

Why is it that no one has a sensible answer to the question of "how do you remove coffee stains from a stainless coffee pot"?

Baking Soda and Vinegar: Create a paste by mixing baking soda with vinegar, then apply it to the stains and let it sit for a while. Scrub the stains gently with a non-abrasive sponge or cloth, then rinse thoroughly. Lemon Juice and Salt: Squeeze fresh lemon juice onto the stains, sprinkle some salt over them, and let it sit for a few minutes. Use a sponge or cloth to scrub the stains, then rinse thoroughly. Commercial Stainless Steel Cleaners: There are specialized stainless steel cleaners available on the market that can be effective in removing coffee stains. Follow the instructions on the product carefully for the best results. Mild Dish Soap and Warm Water: Mix a small amount of mild dish soap with warm water and use a sponge or cloth to scrub the stains gently. Rinse the pot thoroughly afterward. Remember to always test any cleaning method on a small, inconspicuous area of the coffee pot before applying it to the entire surface. This ensures that the cleaning solution or method doesn't cause any damage or discoloration. Additionally, the effectiveness of these methods may vary depending on the severity and age of the coffee stains, as well as the specific composition of the stainless steel used in the coffee pot. It's possible that some stains may be more stubborn and require repeated attempts or alternative cleaning methods.
