I was just teaching my kids the other night. If you have already cooked them, just pick the petals off and gently bite down right underneath the tip where you hold it. Make sure you are holding the petal so that it is shaped like a scoop and gently dragg your top teeth from the top to the bottom. If some of the stringy parts and outer side peel gets in your mouth, just chew it until no soft meat is left and then spit it out. Be sure that when you get to the center of the flower, do not eat the hairy center! Pull that out slowly and gently and you can eat the center and most of the stem when stemed or boiled right and cut off at the base of the flower. Yes, the artichoke IS a flower!

The best dipping sauces are melted butter, and mayo mixed with a little ground pepper and lemon juice.! Enjoy!

You eat the end of the leaf that has the fleshy end. You need to steam the artichokes until soft and can pull off the leaves off. The heart and stem can also be eaten.
