It is probably illegal for you to do this yourself, due to the nature of the refrigerant used. For your own safety, call a professional. They have the special tools and knowledge needed to do it right. If your ac uses true freon call a professional. Freon is a CFC which depletes the ozone layer. They have special equipment to recover and handle it. If not, or if you are h*ll bent on doing it yourself, you can rent the equipment to remove refrigerent from your system. This is the best option for non freon systems, as you can then have it disposed of and you don't have to risk inhaling it by releasing it into the atmosphere. If you release the gas directly you risk frostbite from exposure, asphyxiation from buildup, and the refrigerent can decompose into toxic chemicals from heat and flame. (R12 decomposes into phosgene which was used as a war gas.)

How do you flush freon out of the AC?

At parts stores such as Advance Auto Parts, Checkers, etc. there is a solution called "a/c flush". If you have an a/c charge kit, you can use it with the a/c flush to install in the system. For best results undo each connection to blow out each section. After all this, be sure and replace all filters, "o" rings and the drier and use the freon oil mix to recharge. Good Luck!

Will adding freon make your ac colder?

ding freon will make it colder, only if freon is low. if freon is low you have a freon leak so adding will be wasting time and money. more likely to need a new ac temp thermostat, which is no big deal to change
