If you mean obtaining a copy of an existing patent, each country has a collection of every patent it has ever issued. The U.S. collection can be accessed online at uspto.gov.

If you mean, "get my own patent for an invention"...

First, you need to have an invention of your own. Then you need to speak to a patent attorney and determine if the invention can be patented and in which countries. Then the patent attorney (or patent agent) will draft an application and file it in one or more patent offices. In a couple of years you will receive a rejection and the patent attorney will assist you to determine if the rejection can be refuted by arguments, amendments, affidavits, or other techniques. It is very important that you not discuss your invention with anyone or use it in public until you have consulted with an attorney. -- Simple, wherever you want to explore marketing product, you can go to country for getting a patent. http://indiapatents.blogspot.com

You would do a patent search to see if your invention has not already been invented. You would then keep an Inventor Log on developing your invention. Once you have a good working model of your invention, you would then contact a patent attorney to do a professional patent search and possibly a filing application.

You go to the patent office where you can search the records to see if a similar invention has been patented. They will explain the details to you there or over the web. Do not publish any of your information until you have at least put in a provisional patent application. A word of advice, do it with the aid of a patent attorney to be on the safe side. There are a couple of usefull links below.

You would need to file a patent application and that usually requires a patent attorney to handle all of the necessary arguments, filings and fees involved in the examination process.
