How do you get the graple bow tie?

You get it from the second spy you rescue, who is being held at the electrified building on Toupee Terrace. To rescue him, you will need the Laser Pen you get by rescuing the first rescued spy (at the docks).

When you are wearing the grapple bowtie, you can shoot a line to another building or structure and the grapple line will carry you there. (You can take the bowtie on and off.)

Both spies give you parts of the passcodes you will need later.

Rescuing the First and Second Spies

To rescue the first spy, you need the Chameleon Suit from Spyglass Eyewear. Go there and take an eye test, answering all of the test with the opposite symbols than what the doctor points to. Go outside to enter the upstairs room and he will give you the Chamelelon suit. Go to the docks and use the suit to get past the guards at the door on the roof. Inside, pass the dogs the same way and enter the Vault through the hole in its ceiling. The spy will give you the Laser pen.

Then go to Toupee Terrace at the far right after you go out. Climb up past the electric windows and reach the barred roof opening. Use the laser pen and free the second spy. Talk to him and he will give you the grappling bowtie and more important info about the B.A.D. satellite. To rescue the third spy, use the grappling bowtie to reach the Rooftops at the Grease Monkey garage.

Go to Balding Avenue and rescue the 3rd spy from a greenhouse tower on the rooftops. (see related question)

To Rescue the Third Spy :

1. Put on your grappling bowtie and your camouflage suit.
2. Go to Balding Avenue and climb up the building to the right of the Grease Monkey garage. Use your bowtie and go onto the Rooftops.
3. Aim the Bowtie to the left and grapple to the next building (it is guarded)
4. Avoid the guard (you can't go up) and grapple to the red bulding farther left.
5. See the friendly spy there. He suggests you grapple back to the right, to the tall antenna.
6. Go into the roof duct and enter the Greenhouse.

In the Greenhouse :

1. Take off the grappling bowtie.
2. Go to the bottom right and find the Cherry Bomb Tree.
3. Click on the Cherry Bomb on the tree. (You have time before it explodes.)
4. Push it left onto the leaf trampoline. Jump up to where it landed (up and right).
5. Avoid the man-eating plants and push the Cherry Bomb left again, onto the second trampoline plant. This will throw it up near the caged spy.
6. Push it in front of the cage door. Step back. It should explode in a few seconds.
7. You saved the 3rd spy. She gives you parts of a password and the Ultra Vison Goggles. Now you can see the Lasers, and enter the BAD hideout to the right of Toupee Terrace. But first you will need one other item : the fingerprint of a BAD agent. You can get one at the BAD Bistro.

Click on the item in your list and choose "put on". You can select it from the icon at the lower left of the screen. When you wear it, clicking on it (or while in the air) will shoot a line to the closest object or structure.

The grappling bowtie is the only way to reach the Rooftops and rescue the third spy. There is no way to get to the roofs on Balding Avenue except at the top of the building to the right of the Grease Monkey garage. Climb to the top and you will see the sign "to the rooftops".
