Your fuel pump is INSIDE the fuel tank. Replacing it means that you have to drop the tank to get at the pump, which mounts from the top of the tank. You'll need, in addition to basic hand tools, a floor jack to let the tank down and get it out from under the car.
I highly recommend picking up a Haynes or Chilton manual for your car. The procedure is layed out with good photos.
