this depends on the boss and how well you know them....
obviously you should do as your told...
you could have a joke around depending on what your boss is like and how well you know them....this does depend on what may offend them...so spend some time getting to know them and you should be able to draw your own conclusion to your question
if your trying to get a job...be confident but not so confident that the boss will feel threatened....make sure you dont talk above him... just be generally nice and suck -up a bit...remember theres not many jobs going..and the person your talking to could hold your future in there hands
