It depends on the kind of computer you have. In desktop PCs, you would need to open up the protective box (while the computer was off, of course) and access the RAM straight on the motherboard. There it can just be snapped off and replaced with RAM of the same settings for that motherboard (i.e., SDR or DDR, appropriate clocking speed range for the motherboard). In laptops the concept is similar, but gaining access to the RAM is very brand-specific. Often times easy access is only available for additional RAM. I would recommend looking at the instructions that came with your laptop.

Well first you need to know what type of RAM module your computer uses and what is the max ram your computers motherboard can take. That's the hard part but if you know that then the rest is easy. Open you computer case( many use a thumb screw and a have a slide panel), then look for the RAM slot you will most likely find an open one next to one being used, next carefully slide the RAM module in (if it's hard to push in it's going the wrong way), then with both thumbs pressing down gently on the module clip it in with the two clips on both sides of the slot. Finally put the case back together, start up and go to the bios and check that you have the correct amount of memory installed.

My computer only has 480 of ram how do i get more?

If the motherboard on your computer has some spare slots in it, you can buy RAM from most electronic hardware stores and either pay them to install it or install it yourself. If your motherboard DOESN'T have any spare slots then simply replace the current RAM with higher one. Make sure your purchase RAM compatible with your computer. Most computers today use DDR2 RAM while older computers (such as mine) use DDR RAM.
