How do you interact with an ex Narcissist whose fathered your child?

Very very very briefly. Only discuss issues concerning the child. Period. The less communication you have with the N, the sooner he will move on to find another source of narcissistic supply. Bear in mind that the N will definitely use the child for whatever purpose benefits him at any given time...ie...to impress a new girlfriend, to look like father of the year to his boss or co-workers, to appear to be involved with his child...the N will ALWAYS USE their children for his own gain. He will NEVER love the child in the same manner that you and I love our children....unconditionally. N's do not have a clue what that even means....even if they want to...they can't. They are not equipped psychologically to feel love, empathy, compassion or any other emotion.
So just something to keep in mind, prepare yourself for future problems with the N. He will call for the child and then not show up. He will then wish to keep the child on open ended visits (if that is what is impressing someone in the n's life at the time), he will threaten to take you to court for custody, the list goes on and on....but trust me, the N will never be able to accept the true responsibility of having a child full time (unless he has a built in babysitter, and this is a real danger). The N will only want the child around to fulfill whatever desire is on the plate for that day or week.
I cannot count the times my child was left sitting on the couch waiting for his father (dressed, packed and ready to go) because he said he'd be over to pick him up and then never showed up. I gave up the feelings of anger and simply prepared myself and my child that this is the way his father is and there is little we can do about it. I just pick up my son and take him to the park or the Dairy Queen and forget about it until next time. In spite of all this, my son ADORES his father and I am above and beyond the call of duty of not speaking negatively of his father within his ear shot. He will eventually come to his own correct conclusions about his father and that will be difficult enough on him without his own mother compounding the truth.

I don't think so. How can change occur in narcissist whose mother is a narcissist as well, even if she accepts him? The very sickness comes from that lack of emotional support given by the mother at the most crucial time, birth. My mother in law has damaged my husband so much that because he is a product of his environment, he had dished out his madness upon me and his children. Sadly, I am the one who had the mental breakdown and has suffered so much. Is there really help for a narcissist?
