If a spell or ability would deal damage to a player, the controller of that spell or ability may, during resolution, redirect all of the damage to a planeswalkers the opponent controls.
If a creature attacks, the attacking player must declare, for each attacking creature, if that creature is attacking the defending player or a planeswalkers that player controls. They may still be blocked as normal.
The previous answer mentioned playing your own planeswalker with the same sub-name to "counteract" the opponent's planeswalker. This rule no longer exists and each player may have a planeswalker with the same sub-name under their control.

No, you don't.
Can a spell kill a planeswalker in mtg?
Yes, you can do a spell that destroys a planeswalker, or when you play a spell that deals damage to a player you can do that to a planeswalker, or when you attack you can just attack it instead. Basically a planeswalker is a player whose life is equal to the amount of loyalty counters on him/her and when it gets dealt damage remove that many loyalty counters from it. If it had 0 loyalty counters it goes to the graveyard. This confused me, too for a while.
In magic the gathering can a monster defend a Planeswalker card?
Yes, attackers attacking a Planeswalker can still be blocked by the defender's creatures.

Sorin Markov is indeed a vampire who became a planeswalker. But in-game, he is never counted as a vampire spell/permanent, same as how the planeswalker forms of Nicol Bolas and Karn do not count as a Dragon/Golem.

Yes. Any card that says " Return target card from your graveyard to your hand." can be used to target a planeswalker. (Example: Regrowth) However, no card exists that can return a planeswalker from a graveyard to play that I know of. It would have to be worded "return target (permanent/non-land permanent) from (a/your) graveyard to play" Hope this helps

A planeswalker is a specific card type. Like creatures, artifacts, or enchantments. It has activated abilities that add or remove loyalty counter to give you certain effects. Karn Liberated and Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker are some examples.
How many times can a planeswalker's abilities be used in a turn?
A Planeswalker can only use one ability per turn, and only on your own turns. Planeswalkers do not suffer from summoning sickness though, so may use an ability on the turn they are played.
What happens if you play Nicol bolas planes walker and Nicol bolas?
Nothing. The Planeswalker is not a Legendary Creature, and the creature is not a Planeswalker. Therefore neither the Legendary rule or the Planeswalker Uniqueness rule will come into play, even though technically you've got two cards representing the same person (this is still legally achievable in other ways too, such as both Akroma - Angel of Wrath and Angel of Vengeance)

is a PLANESWALKER. A new type of Magic card introduced in the Lrowyn expansion. A PLANESWALKER is supposed to be a powerful mage that helps you on your side of the battlefield. When a planeswalker enters play, place counter on him or her equal to his or her loyalty in the bottom right counter. This represents his loyalty to you. The more loyal he is, the more powerful ablities he will cast for you. On the other hand, if you don't protect him enough, he will lose loyalty, and when the loyalty reaches 0, he will be discarded. The +1,-1,-4 respresents the cost in loyalty in order to cast those abilities. He may only cast one ability per turn, and only as a sorcery. He may cast an ability the turn he comes into play. In order to cast the -1 ability, you must remove one loyalty counter from him. And for the -4 ability you must remove four loyalty counters from him. Since Garruk only starts with 3 loyalty, you first need to cast the +1 ability to put a loyalty counter on him. When you cast the +1 ability, you place a token on him AND use the ability. However, that is your one ability per turn. This makes Garruk really good. He can win the game for you, just by casting and recasting his spells (though only one per turn). However, planeswalkers can be attacked. When an opponent declares his attack, he my attack the planeswalker instead of you. You still blacok normally, however, each point of unblocked damage removes one loyalty counter (instead of casuing one damage to you). If the last counter is removed, he leaves you. Further, if a spell would deal damage to the opposing player, that spells controller may, instead, redirect ALL of that damage to an opposing planeswalker. That planeswalker loses one loyalty counter per damage. Enjoy your planeswalker!
