Because unlike certain other inspects bedbugsdo not go under people's skin. Each bedbug climbs on top of your skin during the night, normally while you are fast asleep and stays on your skin only for a maximum of about 5 to 10 minutes while having their meal, which is some of your blood. After they have completed that meal they then leave you and crawl back to their hiding place, which will usually be in a crack or crevice very near to where you sleep such as in your mattress.

When first on your skin they inject an anaesthetic into you before piercing your skin with a tiny very sharp point and it then inserts a tiny tube through which it slowly sips the blood out of you into its mouth. You will not normally feel anything during its meal, even if you are awake because the anaesthetic makes it numb and because they only come out in the darkness you are unlikely to see them, except in the daytime if you happen to disturb one or more in their hiding place, such as when making your bed or turning your mattress over.

The way you usually discover that bedbugs have been on you is by the little red marks you will see on your skin in daylight where bedbugs have had meals of you during one or more night times. After the anaesthetic has worn off the area of your skin where they pierced you may also itch maddeningly, but this only happens to certain people.

It is extremely unlikely. Fleas do lay eggs under people's skin. Do bed bugs live under skin?

No unlike fleas, bedbugs never get under your skin. It will never be on your skin except when it is having its meal off you. When bedbugs sip your blood, usually while you are asleep in your bed in the middle of the night, each bedbug comes along the sheet to where you are lying and climbs or drops on toyour body. To protect itself before starting a meal, it injects a coagulant and also a kind of anaesthetic into you which makes the area around it numb so you can not normally feel anything when it is on you. and the coagulant stops your blood coming out too fast It then pierces your skin most usually on your lower limbs inserts a tiny tube into you and pumps the blood out of you through the tube into its stomach. This takes it about five minutes. lt then retracts the tube and jumps off you and crawls to its hiding place which may be in the bed structure, in your mattress, in the floor, in the furniture near your bed or in the walls. Only after it has gone will the anaesthetic effect wear off, and you may then itch maddeningly where the piercing of your skin took place and feel a need to scratch, but the bedbug now swollen with your blood inside, and is no longer on your body.
