Some automobile thermostats are designed to "fail open", which means that your temperature gauge will not rise above a "cold" indication. Failure can be caused by vibration (body cracking and allowing the coolant to freely circulate through the radiator), failure of wax substance bulb to expand and drive the valve closed against a spring that allows the valve to open when hot coolant is present. Other (usually older styles) thermostats "fail closed", preventing cooling from circulating through the radiator and overheating the engine. Advise: Purchase and install the most expensive quality thermostat available. These usually cost several dollars more, but the labor is 95% of the job. These jewels are usually buried under the tons of hoses, wires and do-dads added to the basic engine block. Good luck.
Only if the thermostat doesn't work. This question needs more information.
There is no answer! There is not an opposite of thermostat, a thermostat is a measuring devise.
Our thermostat read 80oF.
Well a manipulated variable is know to be something that changes throughout the experiment. However if you are trying to determine what happened or changed than YOU just simply figure out if it changed of color, texture, etc.
your car runs hot but you can not find a leak plus thermostats are cheap so its usually the first thing to try
If your radiator isnt leaking and car is having a over heating problem and coolant spewing out. Chances are your thermostat needs replaced. possible the radiator needs to be flushed. But more likley its thermostat
it goes out and your heat will be gon
Is you Geo Tracker overheating or the temperature is running almost hot then you need to change you thermostat
it could be the thermostat needs to be changed or the heater core needs to be flushed out.these would be the cheaper things to try first.
The Yamaha outboard thermostat must be exposed in order to be changed. Removing the T cover by unfastening the two bolts will expose the thermostat. Before removing it, look for any debris or damage that needs repair. Lift out the thermostat and replace it.
When the engine overheats because thermostat won't open to allow the water to flow and cool!
Sort of. It's in the housing. You do need it. It can be changed if that is what you need to know.
need to know what type of vec. 1992 Mercedes s500 sel
Lack of power
Some of these fans will not engage until the heat sensor gets to a certain temperature. The engine needs to be hot for the fan to come on.
have you changed the battery in the thermostat?
Sounds like thermostat is not opening and needs replacing
