Look through the oil fill hole in the valve cover while somebody cranks the engine. If you don't see any movement, the belt is off.
2001 Mazda MPV does not have a timing belt, it has two timing chains.
i have a 2001 mazda 626 v-6 2.5 engine my timing belt broke i had the belt and tesioner pulley replaced and its running fine
timing CHAIN
timing BELT
timing chain
when do you change the timming chain on a mazda 2001 b2600
if i remember correctly the 2001 still has an interference engine.....if your timing belt broke you surely pinged some valves.
A 2000 Mazda Protege with 1.8 DOHC engine appears to be a "free-running" engine, meaning there is no valve/piston interference in case the timing belt broke. There is enough clearance between the valve and piston, even if the cam stops (i.e. the timing belt breaks) with the valve fully open. Therefore, the car will not be damaged if the timing belt broke.
Yes, if the timing belt broke or skipped, the engine won't start.
A mazda dealership told me that it didnt have one when i asked to replace it. But i am skeptical
Timing Belt
No, the RX8 does not have camshafts, therefore it does not require a timing belt.
