There are a few things you can do in Pokemon games to level up your Pokemon quickly. Here are some ways:
1) You can go into the wild grass and waste your day away battling wild Pokemon
2) You can obtain the Vs. Seeker (I don't think you can get the Vs. Seeker in HG and SS)
3) You can find a route where you haven't battled any trainers and battle them
4) You can find your rival (wherever he/she can be) and battle his/her Pokemon
5) Leave your Pokemon in the Daycare Center and walk, run, or bike around
These are the ways I get experience.
Also, on number five, your Pokemon get one experience every time you take a step. I recommend you bike around an open area for a few hours
Also if you have a traded Pokemon it levels up faster which is pretty useful ( i got a traded cyndaquil lvl 1 to a lvl 40 typloshion in a single day ).
