Ensure all first aid equipment, i.e wound bandaging are all sterile by ensuring their packaging is not damaged.

Washing hands correctly.

Wearing gloves.

Use appropriate bin when disposing used first aid equipment, for example plasters into clinical waste bag.

Using anti-bacterial hand gel prior and after entering or leaving a room. Also when treating patient. This should not replace washing your hands.
