∙ 7y agoYou have to go up to the altar and tell God/Jesus that you want him to forgive you. Then, he will forgive you, and, of course, he will give you another chance. Then you become a born-again Christian. I know this, because I am a Christian who has done it.
By accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and savior and by accepting what he did for you on the cross. He paid the price for our sins, and, by accepting Him into our hearts, we receive from Him the free gift of salvation. Just ask Him, "Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner; come into my heart and wash me clean. Forgive my sins and create in me a new being, and I will live for you." He will do it! It's His promise! Get yourself into a good, Bible-believing church, for future guidance and growth. This will be the first day of a new and free life in Christ.
Through prayer, ask God to come into your life and help you to make decisions. Know that Jesus Christ died on the cross for us, and he paid the price for our sins. Find a Bible-believing church and seek answers. Go to the website of Joel Osteen, and God will answer questions you may have. It does not matter what your past may be. God forgives all things, and there is hope, love, and forgiveness in the teachings of Jesus. Pray: God answers prayer.
By believing that Jesus loves you and died for you and that he will take on the punishment for your sins, if you ask Him. It is a free gift. Tell Jesus that you are sorry for your sins, that you want Him to come into your heart and to take away your sins. Tell him that you want him to live in your heart from now on. You should tell someone, such as a pastor, that you have made the decisions to be baptized and to find a church where you can learn and grow and live the rest of your life trying to live the way that God wants you to. You need the love and support of a church family to help you to understand and to grow into the person that God wants you to be.
The above may answer what a born-again Christian is, but it's not what The Bible tells us to do. The Bible never says "Pray Jesus into your heart." To become a Christian, you must hear God's word, believe it, repent of your sins, confess that Jesus Christ is the son of the living God, and be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. From then on, you must live your life according to God's will and do as the Bible says, if you want to go to Heaven on Judgment Day.

To become religious, you find a releigion that you believe in and trust, then you follow their dogma and ceremonies.
Religion is different to faith.
Religion is the outward devotion to a prescribed system.

∙ 14y agoThe person goes to the nearest priest, pastor, rabbi, imam or other religious leader of the belief system s/he wants to join, and simply expresses an interest in becoming part of that community. Some religions will require formal lessons first so there will be no question of true belief or misunderstandings about what is expected of the convert.
