Put a layer of tin foil around the head. It should come right off when you try to pull it off.
I created a figure of toon link out of sculpey clay and I am wondering if it's not too late to give it support and do I use aluminum wires or what and is it unwise to use clay as the base or use wood?

Thicker pieces may require more time. Just stay calm and give your work sufficient time to cool. It is normal for Sculpey to still be malleable soon after it is removed from the oven.
