there are 3 key parts to know.
1. the highest plastic ring, touching the sink. leave it for now.
2. plastic ring below that, has two long holes in it, which hold two tabs that are part of the disposer body. this ring must be tapped until it rotates about 20 degrees. then the disposer falls out.
3. ring number two now slips down and touches a rubber ring. remove the rubber ring and these parts come off.
4. go back to the top ring and spin it until the steel part is free and can be lifted out of the sink
