Best Answer

buy a carpet knife, cut the carpet into sections, roll up and remove.

if it is glued down you should rent an electric floor scraper from a home improvement center. costs about 50.00 to rent for a day and is well worth it.

Remove a musty smell in the basement from carpet?

That musty smell could be coming from mold in the carpet and or it's padding, as basements tend to be damp.
