Water and oil do not mix. To dissolve stains, you have to use the principal of like dissolves like. An oil or alcohol will dissolve greasy stains.
Cooking oil & olive oil stain clothes all the time, but you can use a good stain remover to get rid of these tough stains. Most of the products have special instructions on them that are easy to follow. Otherwise a general tip for oil stains is to remove them immediately because the longer they last the more difficult they will be to remove as they set into the fabric.
