I removed insulation from the sleeves of my leather jacket, because they were too tight, but I left the insulation in the body of the jacket. I cut it out by turning the jacket inside out, and carefully snipped the stitching along one of the sleeve seams in each sleeve. I then cut away, as best I could, the bulk of the insulation attached to to the lining with a sharp pair of scissors, and restitched the seam in each sleeve by hand, using small stitches. Not perfect, but when I turned the jacket right side out the sleeves looked OK and fit me much better. I found that just by undoing one sleeve seam I could work around the entire sleeve from the inside - should also work on the body of the jacket, probably best to split and re-stitch the back seam and work through that opening. No need to touch the outer shell of the jacket at all.
acetone
