We have used many different types of rust removers for this type of restoration. We didn't have much luck with any of them until we came across a product called F9 Concrete Rust Remover. I think they called it F9 BARC.
So I called them and they sent out a professional because this stuff is for professional use only. I didn't mind though because I had probably spent 3 hours walking around and spraying stuff on my roof that didn't work.
I was very impressed with the company that came out, the price was reasonable and he removed all of the rust on my roof, with no damage. I am happy to refer the F9 Applicators. They did a fantastic job.

The best product to remove rust is limeaway. That stuff will remove anything staining including rust. It will not damage the actual item that was rusted. Only the rust will be removed.
