Not an easy job . Jack up an support front end of car . Remove right side front tire . Remove plastic covers , belt , three bolts , and wires. That was the easy part , trust me , next comes the "Not easy part ". Removing Alternator . I did it through the top , yes it can be done . Took me just over an hour . A second pair of hands will help greatly , and keep the swearing in check . Work the new alternator in and pat your self on the back ! This is a weekend job !!!

Estimate from the Dealer was $850, my mechanic charged me $500. Half cost of remanufactured alternator and the other half is for installation.

The heater on the 03 Mazda Tribute is going in and out. What is the problem and how can it be fix?
Just had one replaced. It cost $600.00. Most of that was for labor because it is located on the bottom side of the engine and you have to remove all kinds of parts just to get to it. I think the alternator itself was under $200.00
It was recalled in 2004. Call Mazda.
