here is the easy way. jack or hoist the car up on the passengers side. remove tire and plastic panel. there are 3 bolts on the pulley. use a 13mm socket on the 3/8's ratchet and rest the head of it against the inner fender, take them out. now you can pull your pulley forward and manipulate it to reach all your bolts, the cut outs in it help. there are 5 10mm bolts holding the pump on. i suggest a 1/4 inch ratchet. and perhaps a 10mm wrench or ratchet wrench for one or 2 bolts. now that you have the bolts off and out and not broken off. take the pulley and twist and recess it over the 3 surfaces. it will slip behind where its suppose to go. take a big crow bar and put it between the inner fender and the tensioner pulley on the bottom and pull or push ever so slightly and you can pull it out tilting it down just a touch. when out. clean the surface area of the engine block with 220 sand paper or close to. make sure the surface is as clean as the new part. clean it off with intake cleaner sprayed on a rag. before installing the new pump with the rubber seal. wet the seal on both sides with your saliva and spread it around, gross i know but believe me, less problems than using oil or lube and having it burn off the wrong way. DO NOT USE SILICONE ON THIS JOB. insert your new pump in the same way you took it out. 5 bolts. 3 bolts. now. when putting your belt on it can all be done from underneath. reach way up and throw it over the top two on each side. bring it under the middle top one, down over the water pump. crank. to a/c (if equipped) and your tensioner is above your bottom middle pulley (the crank pulley) use your ratchet on it. either a 1/2 inch or 3/8's drive. may need to move over motor. unless you have a shallow ratchet. and then you should be good and done. fill your coolant. turn your defrost on high, let it warm up with the rad cap off. when it drops fill it up. turn the heat off. top it up. put your rad cap on securely. close your hood. and you just saved yourself around $400-$500. take care and enjoy. kr.ash@hotmail.com
