Flightwise (formerly FBOweb) introduced the ability to track flights in Google Earth. They created some special network links to show the approximate positions of all the in-bound flights for several major US airports. The tracks show the position as a placemark and a track of the last few minutes of the flight.

To turn on the Sun you enable it in the View menu - check the 'Sun' item in the menu. Now you'll see a timeline on top left controlling the time of day and where the Earth is with respect to the Sun. The light and night-side of the planet will be displayed accordingly.
If you want to see the Sun itself then you can zoom out as far as you can until the Earth is a small sphere then rotate around until the Sun appears - make sure you're facing the dark side of the planet so the Sun will appear behind Earth.
Under the View menu make sure 'Status Bar' item is checked otherwise you won't see the elevation which appears on the bottom of the map.

Google Earth and Google Maps show the most current Street View photos available in a given area whether they're 2011 or 2010.There is an option to show 'historical imagery' for Street View photos in Google Maps by checking the clock icon under the address but not yet in Google Earth. In Google Earth, you can enable 'historical imagery' under View menu and choose to see the satellite imagery for previous years.
