Jive turkey was a derogatory slang word in African American Vernacular English, used to refer to someone who was unreliable, made empty promises, or who was full of bluste…r. The insult became widely known among white Americans in the 1970s, particularly via television comedies (e.g., The Jeffersons). The term has been used by later television characters (e.g., Homer Simpson) in order to demonstrate that they are out of touch with modern youth trends, culture, and language. Jive turkey, however, was already falling into disuse when it was spoken by supposedly "hip" characters in the 1970s, such as George Jefferson, and later in 2008 by Cornelius Banks (Tim Meadows) in the movie "Semi-Pro." The humorous/interesting sound of the term has also resulted in it being use in complimentary fashion, often by those who don't know what it means and so make up their own meaning. The term has also been translated to mean a white person who can dance. Turkey, being white meat, represents the white person. Jive is a form of dance.

A person "jive talking" to another person is simply lying to them. For example: "Don't you be jive'n me, fool!" This simply means "Don't lie to me."

Sincere, honest, truthful are all antonyms of "jive", when the word is not being used to with reference to jive dance, jive music, or the slang used by jazz musicians. Beyond …the musical reference, most people confuse "jive" with "jibe" and use it incorrectly. Used correctly you might say "This jive turkey tried to sell me the Brooklyn Bridge!" Incorrectly... "Your story just doesn't jive with the facts".
If you're doing 1950's rock and roll jive rather than modern jive, I can help you :) Something cool, and fitting rather than loose or too clingy. I find that it's best to wea…r something that can be tucked in and with freedom of movement because you don't want your belly on show :P My favourite thing to wear to jive in casually is a pair of fairly high waisted cropped jeans and a checked shirt, which i tuck in and wear a belt with. The loosely fitting shirt allows me to be cool but there's no excess fabric in the way to get caught on anything. So, tucking in, probably jeans and a loose shirt, and regarding shoes... if you're a guy then something like brothel creepers or even converse, and if you're a girl something with little grip on the sole and that's comfortable to jump around in! I wear women's black and white brogues, and find they're excellent for dancing in.
I can help you if you are doing 50's rock and roll swing jive dancing. If this question refers to modern jive I'm afraid it'll seem kinda stupid :P I'd say that the top 10 ro…ck and roll numbers to jive to are: 1. Johnny B. Goode - Chuck Berry 2. Rockin' Robin - The Jackson Five 3. Why - The Cues 4. She's the Most - The Five Keys 5. Please Mama Please - Go Cat Go 6. Bill Haley and the Bill Haley Comets - Birth of the Boogie 7. Swords of 1000 Men - Tenpole Tudor 8. Don't knock upon my door - Billy Fury 9. Love tattoo - Imelda May 10. Rock this Town - Stray Cats Hope I've been of some help!
