A Down syndrome child is fairly normal depending on the percentage of the case i.e. the intensity of the patient. I would know this because my sister is a down syndrome child having it at only 5%.

Basing on her case, her behaviour is normal although her appearance may show some signs. For instance, her cheeks were drooped downwards during the first few 13 months. She constantly hiccuped for some reason and had a problem with balance when she sits down.

At later age her apperance changed gradually to normal and her hiccup stopped. Her understanding also quickened and she was rather smart. In short, what I'm trying to put out is that you could take care of her just like you would take care of a perfectly normal child.

Support is also vital and her meals must be balanced.

Is a Down syndrome child better off with motherly care?

Yes, i believe that children with Down Syndrome should be with their mothers. No one can ever take the place of a mother and love the child the way a mother does.

Do you think it should be forbidden for someone with Down syndrome to become a parent?

WikiAnswers contributors share their opinions; There is no way a person with Down syndrome could take care of anybody else, let alone themselves. Some people with Down syndrome marry. With rare exceptions, men with Down syndrome cannot father a child. In any pregnancy, a woman with Down syndrome has a 50-50 chance of conceiving a child with Down syndrome, but many affected fetuses are miscarried. Knowing that says that nature is taking care of itself. If two people who love each other have a chance at having a healthy baby, then the best of luck to them. After all, "normal people" have babies with down syndrome and they are loved. And again I will say that males with Down syndrome are almost all sterile (only 1 case documented). And if a female with Down syndrome becomes pregnant with a viable fetus, the father obviously does not have Down syndrome. Some people with Down syndrome are able to function and be a lot more independent than others. As to whether it should be forbidden, my answer is this: "HELL, NO!" Didn't you ever watch "Life Goes On"? If so, do you remember Corky?

Is it legal for people with down syndrome to marry?

No! If someone has Down syndrome, he or she was born with it. It happens when the fetus develops an extra chromosome.

Can you have the appearance of Down syndrome but not actually have the syndrome?

Who really cares if a child looks normal or not!? God created us all the same, and we shouldn't treat each other differently just because we have a little disability! Calling a disabled child "dumb" or a "retard" is not going to change their life and is only going to hurt their feelings, so why bother?! But the truth is, a child with Down Syndrome is not going to look regular without some major surgery. They will need facial reconstruction, though. But even if you choose to have plastic surgery performed on your child with Down Syndrome or not, just remember to love and take care of him or her. It's the best gift you can give your child, and with the right therapy and attention, your child (and you!) can learn to live a normal, neurotypical life.

How do you take care of a child with ehlers-danlos syndrome?

If you are the parent of a child with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome it is important to treat your child just like any other child and maintain a sense of normalcy as much as possible.Ê You should also direct any other family, teachers, caregivers to do the same. This disorder prevents a child from contact sports so swimming and low impact exercise is recommended.

Can the non custodial parent continue visitation with a down syndrome child after child is an adult?

A child with DS can be an adult physically but mentally and emotionally they are often still children and needs a guardian. And of course the parents can still see their child. It would be cruel to the child to take away their family.

How can down syndrome affect a child physically emotionally socially and intellectually?

Down's syndrome will give your child a total amount of 47 chromosomes in his/her somatic cells as opposed to the normal human who has only 46 chromosomes in his/her somatic cells. In addition Down's syndrome will lower the metal ability of the child and will give the child distinct facial features (such as a very circular face). It also affects the fertility of the child as well. Males are mostly sterile and females can be fertile, but it is very hard to have a baby. Usually the baby is prematurely born, aborted naturally, or needed surgery to take out.

If someone with full custody of a child can no longer take care of this child what should they do?

If there is someone who has custody of a child and can no longer care for the child, they need to give the child to another family member. The local DHS office can help find family members to take care of the child.

How do you handle a young child who has some signs of being a gay?

There is nothing to handle. If the child is gay, the child is gay. Just take care of the child the same way you'd take care of a straight child.
